Sept. 5, 2014 GOVERNOR SIGNS BILL TO ASSIST ELDERLY VICTIMS - The Governor has signed legislation, A.8780, into law that will allow a vulnerable elderly crime victim to be accompanied by a caregiver or professional social worker when appearing as a witness during a grand jury proceeding.  
July 3, 2014 GOVERNOR SIGNS SCHIMMINGER BILL REDEDICATING HIGHWAY - Legislation to rededicate the Twin Cities Memorial Highway to formally honor fallen Vietnam Veterans has been signed into law by the Governor. The legislation was authored by Assemblyman Robin Schimminger, D-C-I Kenmore.  
June 12, 2014 LOCAL LIBRARIES RECEIVE GRANTS - Assemblyman Robin Schimminger is pleased to announce that four public libraries located in the 140th Assembly District have received state grants for construction and renovation of their buildings and library systems.  
March 26, 2014 UB CENTERS OF EXCELLENCE RECEIVE FUNDING - Assemblyman Robin Schimminger, D-C-I Kenmore, Chair of the Assembly Committee on Economic Development, is pleased to announce that the two state designated Centers of Excellence at the University at Buffalo will each receive $872,333 in the forthcoming 2014-15 state budget.  
March 19, 2014 LEGISLATION TO STREAMLINE HIGH-ED PROGRAMS INTRODUCED - Assemblyman Robin Schimminger, D-C-I Kenmore, has introduced legislation, A.9066, which would end the New York State Education Department’s (NYSED) duplicative role in approving academic programs at colleges and universities in the state.

Committee on Economic Development, met locally today with Quebec’s Delegate General to New York, Andre Boisclair, to discuss future economic development opportunities between the two regions.
Dec. 23, 2013 NT PROJECTS RECEIVE FUNDING - Last week, you may have seen the media reports that the Governor announced this year’s winners of the Regional Economic Development Council competition. Although the Western New York Regional Economic Development Council was not one of the top four winners statewide, our region did receive a significant amount of funding, $60.8 million, in Regional Council awards, including a number of projects in North Tonawanda.
